On September 16, 2005 Monica got her United States citizenship, on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial. The location has special significance for us. First, Thomas Jefferson was one of the founding fathers of our country, so it was nice to have the Swearing In Ceremony there. From a personal/family perspective, it was even more exciting. Thomas Jefferson is an ancestor of mine; 6th cousin. It was certainly stimulating having the first family member sworn in at the Jefferson Memorial
